How to add Custom Prescription(Presets)?

📌 Overview

Custom prescriptions can be:

• Created on the fly directly from the patient’s medical chart, or

• Pre-defined in the Control Panel as reusable sets for faster prescribing

⚠️ Before You Start (Mandatory)

• Components = Inventory Items
  Every solution or component used in a custom prescription must already exist as an Inventory Item.

• Add any missing items in Inventory before creating or using custom prescriptions, otherwise they will not appear in the selection list.

🩺 Option A — Create a Custom Prescription on the Fly (From the Medical Chart)

This option allows clinicians to create a custom prescription during a patient visit without using predefined sets.

Steps

1. Open the Medical Chart for the patient

2. Go to Patient Management → Custom Prescription

3. From the item picker (populated from Inventory), select the required components

4. For each component, enter:

   • Dosage

   • Volume

   • Osmolarity

   • Route

5. Click Add Prescription to review the prescription

6. Click Sign

7. Choose one of the following:

   • Sign

   • Request Signature

8. Confirm
   The prescription is saved in the patient’s file

⚙️ Option B — Pre-Define Custom Prescriptions (Reusable Sets)

Pre-defined sets allow clinics to reuse commonly prescribed multi-component mixes.

➕ How to Create a Custom Prescription Set

Steps

1. Go to Control Panel → EMR Settings → Custom Prescriptions

2. Click + Add (top-right)

3. Select the Branch

   • Or enable All Branches

4. Enter:

   • Name

   • Description

5. Click + next to Medications to add the first line:

   • Select the Inventory Item

   • Enter Dosage, Volume, Osmolarity, and Route

6. Use + to add additional components

7. Use the bin icon to remove a component

8. Click Submit to save

📋 Manage Custom Prescription Sets

After saving, the list view displays:

• Name

• Description

• Created By

Available Actions

• Use pagination (bottom-right) to browse sets

• Select any set to Edit or Delete

🔄 Refresh Requirement

After adding or editing custom prescription sets:

• Log out and log back in to Helix
  This ensures the sets appear in the Custom Prescription drop-down list in the medical chart.

🧾 Using Pre-Defined Custom Prescriptions in the Medical Chart

Steps

1. Open the Medical Chart

2. Go to Patient Management → Custom Prescription

3. In the Custom Prescription field, select one of the predefined sets

4. Review and adjust values if required

5. Click Sign and confirm

The finalized prescription is saved in the patient’s file.

💡 Tips & Best Practices

• Ensure all components exist in Inventory before setup

• Use clear, standardized naming for reusable prescription sets

• Periodically review and remove unused sets to keep the list clean

• Always log out/in after changes so clinicians see the latest options
