How to add Investigation Types?
Investigation Types in Helix are used to classify and organize uploaded investigation records such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and laboratory reports. Once configured, these types are used in the Patient File to upload, view, and manage investigation files in a structured manner.
📍Navigation
Control Panel → EMR Settings → Investigation Types
➕ How to Add an Investigation Type
Steps

Go to Control Panel → EMR Settings → Investigation Types

Click the + button
-
Enter the following details:

Type
(e.g., X-ray, CT, MRI, Laboratory) -
Specialty
-
-
Click Submit
The investigation type is now created and available for selection in the Patient File.
📁 How to Upload Investigations in the Patient File
Investigation files are uploaded from within the patient’s record.
Steps

Open the Patient File
-
Click Investigations
-
Select Upload
-
Choose the Investigation Type from the dropdown
-
Upload the required file
Ophthalmology-Specific Field
-
If the selected Investigation Type is linked to Ophthalmology, an additional field appears
-
Select one of the following:

Right Eye
-
Left Eye
-
Both
-
Supported File Types
The following file formats are supported:

PNG
-
JPG
-
PDF
-
BMP
-
MP4
Complete the Upload
-
Click the Start Upload (play) icon to begin the upload
-
Once upload is complete, click Submit to save
After saving:
-
The Investigations button displays a badge showing the total number of uploaded investigations

Steps

Open the Patient File
-
Click Investigations
-
Select View
Viewing Behavior
-
Investigations are grouped by Investigation Type
-
Click on a group to open the container
-
Each file shows:
-
Title
-
Upload date & time
-
Available Actions
-
Expand to view the file
-
Delete to remove the file
-
Click Close to exit the investigation view
💡 Notes
-
Only Investigation Types created in the Control Panel appear in the Patient File
-
Files are organized strictly based on the selected Investigation Type
-
Badge count reflects the total number of uploaded investigation files for the patient
