How to add Subcategories, Generic names and Manufacturers?
Subcategories, Generic Names, and Manufacturers are item-classification masters in Helix that help structure and standardize inventory data.
-
Subcategories are used to organize inventory items and are mandatory when creating an inventory item.
-
Generic Names allow grouping of items that share the same underlying product or substance but may have different trade names.
-
Manufacturers identify the producing company of an item and support better traceability and reporting.
Among the 3, only Subcategory is required during inventory item creation, configuring Generic Names and Manufacturers is optional and recommended for clinics that want cleaner item classification, improved reporting, and scalable inventory management across branches.
