How to Generate, Edit and Print Medical Reports in Helix

This article explains how doctors can generate, access, edit, and print medical reports in Helix. It also clarifies the difference between editing a medical report and editing the original visit record.

🧾 Types of Medical Reports Available

Doctors can generate and print the following reports:

  • Single service report (for one service in a visit)

  • Visit summary report (for the entire visit)

  • Medical History report (full patient history)

📍 Where Medical Reports Can Be Generated From

Medical reports can be generated from:

  • Medical Chart

  • Patient File → Medical History

💾 Saving and Accessing Medical Reports from the Medical Chart

🔄 Behavior change

Previously, after saving a report, it had to be accessed from Patient File → Reports.

Now:

  • When a report is saved, it is also stored inside the Medical Chart

▶️ How to access saved reports in the Medical Chart

  1. After saving a report, a blue button appears with the service name

  2. Click the blue button to open the list of reports for the patient

  3. From this list, you can:

    • Edit a report

    • Delete a report

    • Print a report

🧭 Quick Workflow Summary

  1. Create a report (single service or visit summary)

  2. Click Save

  3. Use the blue service button to view all saved reports

  4. Edit, delete, or print as needed

🖨️ Printing the Full Medical History

  1. Open Patient File → Medical History

  2. Use the print option from this screen

✏️ Editing Medical Reports vs. Editing the Original Visit

🧩 Key distinction

  • Edits made to a medical report affect only the report

  • The original visit record remains unchanged

🔍 Behavior details

  • Editing, adding, or deleting text in a report updates only that report

  • Clinical data from the visit (notes, diagnoses, orders) remains intact

🎯 Why this matters

  • Preserves an accurate source of truth for the clinical encounter

  • Allows narrative or formatting changes without altering clinical documentation

⚠️ Important notes

  • To correct clinical information, doctors must edit the visit or clinical notes (within the allowed edit window)

  • Edited reports can be reprinted at any time

  • The underlying visit data does not change when a report is edited

📝 Notes

  • Medical reports can be generated during or after a visit

  • Saved reports are accessible directly from the Medical Chart

  • Full medical history reports are generated from the Patient File
